The Role Of Gender In Policing: Challenges, Rights, And Workplace Dynamics
The modern world is changing quickly. The diversity and ambiguity of crime control issues in today policing are a reflection of the shifting cultural and social landscape. To keep citizens, secure in a huge and populous nation like India, police organizations must quickly adapt and put new techniques and plans into place. Police officers’ main responsibilities are to uphold & enforce the law, investigate crimes, and protect national security. It is significant to remember that both men and women should have equal access to the profession of policing and that both should get fair treatment while serving as police officers.
The police force has had a history of being a primarily male-dominated job and was strongly patriarchal with the uneven presence of men and women. Women are now beginning to recognize their innate potential strength, nevertheless, thanks to a changing sociocultural context, the development of technology skills, and an improvement in educational options. The acceptance of women in law enforcement has been a long-standing source of conflict. Regarding violence against women, police must act with gender sensitivity.
